Advanced Placement

GPS has long offered Advanced Placement courses to girls seeking additional preparation and challenges in a variety of subjects. Currently, 21 Advanced Placement courses are offered. According to the College Board, in the past 16 years, the percentage of women taking AP exams has increased in almost all subject areas. That's certainly true at GPS, where record numbers of girls are challenging themselves in Advanced Placement. Over half of the senior class is enrolled in at least one AP course.

GPS students consistently score higher than the national and state average for males and females in every subject offered.
In 2006-07, 86% of the sophomores through seniors taking the exams scored three or higher.

Advanced Placement level courses for the 2007-08 year include English Literature, English Language and Composition, Chemistry, Biology, Physics B, Physics C, US History, US Government, European History, French Language, French Literature, Spanish, Spanish Literature, Latin Vergil, Latin Horace, Calculus AB, Calculus BC, Art, Art History, Computer Science A, and Comparative Government and Politics.
