Girls Preparatory School - Chattanooga, TN

Coordinate Program (w/ McCallie School)

GPS and McCallie...The Best of Both Worlds

The Coordinate Program between Girls Preparatory School and McCallie offers students at both single-gender educational programs a wide variety of opportunities to interact in the fine arts, social settings, community service, and athletic programs while upholding each school’s unique traditions.

The all-girls and all-boys schools enjoy a full calendar of events designed to provide times for students to participate in well-chaperoned, age-appropriate events. These activities for 6th through 12th grades include dances, concerts, and pizza parties; pep rallies, cheerleading squads, and tailgating at football games; and talent shows, college nights, and outdoor programs.

The programs offered in the middle school years – pre-game pizza parties and occasions to bowl, skate, or just eat ice cream together – are focused on providing opportunities for students to grow in their ability to communicate well and to learn how to establish healthy relationships with young men. Coordinate choir and field day competitions appeal to both the artistic and athletic interests of the youngest GPS students.

In the Upper School, clubs such as Young Life, FCA, Mock Trial, and Model UN involve participants from both schools. Students from both schools contribute together to the community in Habitat for Humanity and the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure. Coordinate programs in the fine arts include fall plays and the spring musicals, Candlelight, Honors Orchestra and student recitals.

Whether encouraging civic and social consciousness and responsibility, theatrical and choral displays of talent, or enriching growth experiences, the Coordinate Program is at the heart of a connection between the two schools that results in lifelong friendships and strong support for each partner school.
