Outdoor Program

The GPS Outdoor Program offers adventure based experiences to all students which encourage a student's development of leadership, initiative, a sense of community, and an appreciation for our natural world.

Kayaking, canoeing, backpacking, rock climbing, caving, and mountain biking are just a few of the activities offered. Courses are offered to novice, intermediate and even the experienced enthusiast on weekends, afternoons, fall and spring break, and to both middle school and upper school students.

On occasion, GPS and the McCallie School Outdoor Programs offer co-educational adventures, most recently a kayaking trip to South Carolina. At least once annually, a parent-daughter experience is offered to learn fly-fishing, canoe on the Tennessee River, or volunteer with the Audubon Society for an Open House on Maclellan Island. All activities are carefully planned and supervised by experienced staff.
