Girls Preparatory School proudly celebrated five members of the Class of 2026 on National Signing Day as they committed to continue their academic and athletic careers at the collegiate level. This year’s ceremony carried added significance, as it took place on the 40th anniversary of National Girls & Women in Sports Day, a moment dedicated to recognizing the power of athletics to shape confident, capable young women.

Surrounded by family, teammates, faculty, and friends, the student-athletes were honored during a Signing Day ceremony held on campus earlier today.

The five Bruisers signing letters of intent were:

Katherine Potts, golf – Converse University

Aleah Lusk, diving – Centre College

Farah House, basketball – United States Merchant Marine Academy

Caroline Bernard, rowing – Stetson University

Georgia Mae Anderson, beach volleyball – Tennessee Tech University

The ceremony opened with remarks from GPS Director of Athletics and Strategic Partnerships Allie Tennyson, who emphasized that the milestone being celebrated reflected far more than individual achievement. She expressed gratitude to the many people who have supported the signees along their journeys, including coaches, faculty, teammates, friends, and families, as well as the GPS College Counseling team—Andrew Reich, Anders Swanson, and Sarah Russell—for their guidance throughout the college process.

“One theme stood out clearly,” Allie shared. “Each girl up here understands that today is not only a celebration of personal achievement, but also an opportunity to express gratitude for the village of people who supported them along the way.”

Each signee then addressed the crowd, offering heartfelt remarks about the coaches, teachers, teammates, and family members who inspired them and helped them reach this moment. Collectively, the students recognized nearly twenty GPS faculty members, staff, and coaches who played a role in shaping their athletic and academic experiences—a reflection, Allie noted, of both their character and their appreciation for community.

Their success also reflects a broader reality at GPS. Girls Preparatory School consistently sees a higher-than-national-average percentage of female student-athletes continue their sports at the collegiate level, a testament to the confidence, discipline, resilience, and leadership skills developed through the school’s athletics program. At GPS, sports are not just about competition, they are an extension of the classroom, helping students learn perseverance, teamwork, and belief in their own abilities.

Following their remarks, the athletes participated in a ceremonial signing as families and guests captured the moment. The celebration concluded with a reminder of the school’s mission and the values these students carry forward.

“As we officially mark this moment,” Allie said, “we do so knowing that GPS has done what we strive to do every day: engage her mind, cultivate her strengths, and nurture her self-confidence and respect for others.”

GPS extends its congratulations to Katherine, Aleah, Farah, Caroline, and Georgia Mae on this exciting next chapter. On a day that celebrates the lasting impact of girls’ and women’s sports, the Bruiser community is proud to honor five young women whose journeys exemplify the power of opportunity, support, and belief.
