Financial Aid at GPS

GPS is committed to helping girls of the Chattanooga region access an education especially designed for how girls learn best. We recognize the careful consideration families must give to an investment in a GPS education. Financial aid can form part of a family’s financial plan when a verifiable need exists. Each year, GPS awards over $2.5 million in need-based grants to a large percentage of GPS girls. Funds for financial aid are made available by hundreds of generous donors who believe in GPS and its mission.

Financial Aid Process

Financial aid awards at Girls Preparatory School are all need-based. To begin your financial aid application, complete SSS’s Parents’ Financial Statement (PFS) and then submit the required documents. Information about completing the PFS and submitting the documents is outlined below. The PFS is a comprehensive application that will take some time to complete. Give yourself the time you need by not waiting until the deadline to begin. You’ll need your most recent tax documents before beginning the PFS.

The financial aid application for the 2021-22 school year opens October 1, 2020, and must be completed and submitted by December 31, 2020 for returning families and January 15, 2021 for new families.

APPLYING FOR FINANCIAL AID FOR 2021-22

List of 3 items.

  • + Step 1: Create Your Account in SSS

    • Visit sssbynais.org/parents to create your SSS account.
    • Create your PFS Online account with your email address and a password. If you applied for financial aid last year, simply login to the PFS Online as a Returning Family, using the email address and password you set up last year.
    • You’ll need your most recent tax documents before beginning the PFS.
  • + Step 2: Complete the PFS

    • In your SSS account, begin a PFS for Academic Year 2021-22 electronically.
    • You can log out of the PFS Online at any time, then return later to complete it.
    • Complete only one PFS per household.
    • You can apply for aid to multiple schools and for multiple children using just one PFS and one flat fee.
    • Families with two households must submit two separate PFSs.
    • After you have pressed submit, you’ll be brought to a payment screen. The fee of $51 is nonrefundable. Once your PFS is submitted, it cannot be withdrawn from the SSS system.
  • + Step 3: Upload The Required Documents

    • After you pay for and submit your PFS, you’ll have access in the PFS Online to a section called “My Documents.” You can upload the additional documents we require there.
    • Prepare your documents to be uploaded. Make sure the documents are on your computer, each saved as a separate file. Remove any security or password protection from your document files.
    • The Noncustodial Parent Waiver Petition (if applicable) is available to download on our website.
    • On the “My Documents” page, you will see an upload button or a hyperlink next to a specific document name in the "Required Documents" section of the PFS. Clicking either the upload button or a hyperlink will lead you through a series of steps allowing you to name, locate and save the file.
    • Once you have uploaded a document, the date will appear in the “Date Uploaded” column within minutes of the upload. Some tax documents go through a verification process. It can take up to 48 hours for the verification process to complete.
