Or maybe she’s your dancing queen who is always hip-hopping through the house? Let her discover a new passion project (filmmaking? photography?) this summer with our creative art and music camps that are sure to move her.

  • Film Camp

    FILM CAMP
    Grades: 5-8
    Dates: July 6-10
    Time: 8:30 a.m.-3:30 p.m.
    Cost: $325
    Instructor: Lee Wright, GPS Digital Art and Media Teacher

    This exciting summer film camp teaches you all about the basics of audio and video communications plus the art of storytelling, video production, and acting, and then helps you put those skills into practice. By the end of this week-long camp, you will write, direct, and star in your own short films.

    Equipment provided.

  • Kindermusik Adventures

    KINDERMUSIK ADVENTURES
    Grades: Pre-K3-Kindergarten

    Kindermusik’s camp adventure “On the Road!” gives kids ages 3-4 a summer adventure they’ll remember for a lifetime! Inspired by a children’s love of family adventures and the lifelong memories they build, “On the Road” summer camp re-creates the cozy delight of family travels: singing rounds in the car, making up songs, snacking at roadside picnic tables, harmonizing (or trying to!), playing “I Spy,” and many other road-trip-style adventures! Every day is packed with activities, crafts, and musical exploration! Together, kids and staff will find shapes in the clouds, discover constellations in the night sky; have campfire-style fun like making s’mores and roasting bananas, singing songs, and telling stories; explore the woods and shoreline; do puzzles, play card games, and do crafts on rainy days! And throughout it all, each child will create his and her own magical world of imagination and play!

  • Little Singers Camp | New for 2020!

    LITTLE SINGERS CAMP | NEW FOR 2020!
    Grades: 1-3
    Dates: June 1-5
    Time: 1-4 p.m.
    Cost: $175
    Instructor: Natalie Eastman, Cadek vocal, guitar, and piano instructor

    A summer camp tailored for young children that combines vocal and musical training with fun songs and activities to make you think you are just playing games! Learn basic singing techniques including belly breathing, sustaining breath, and tone support. Receive ear training by matching pitch, identifying and performing high/low and up/down tones, and using body solfège. Use steady beat, chanting, and simple percussion to learn rhythm and begin to identify notes, rests, and meter. And, the most fun of all, see how to learn a new song through story, words, melody, and actions. On the last day, family members can attend the last hour of camp for a fabulous, fun- and energy-filled concert, featuring all of the songs learned throughout the week!

  • Music Week of Fun

    MUSIC WEEK OF FUN
    Grades: 5-11
    Dates: June 15-19
    Time: 8:30 a.m.-3:30 p.m.
    Cost: $295
    Instructor: Mary Baxter, GPS Orchestra Director and Music Instructor

    Learn a new instrument or improve on the one you play! This camp is for musicians of all abilities on any symphonic instrument: violin, viola, cello, string bass, flute, oboe, clarinet, saxophone, trumpet, French horn, trombone, tuba, or percussion. In the afternoons, enjoy fun activities such as rollerskating, swimming, and more. At the end of the week, show off what you have learned with a concert open to friends and family.

  • Photography 101: Shoot, Edit, and Create a Small Business

    PHOTOGRAPHY 101: SHOOT, EDIT, AND CREATE A SMALL BUSINESS

    July 20-24: Grades 6-8, 9 a.m.-noon; Grades 9-12, 1-4 p.m.

    Instructor: Emily Lester, Professional Photographer

    Want to learn more than just point and shoot when taking photos? Photographer Emily Lester to the rescue! This popular camp returns to teach you the creative process of photography. Improve your skills, understand manual DSLR camera modes, and produce a personal portfolio. Practice landscape, portrait, and food photography. You’ll even learn basic editing with Adobe Creative Suite (Lightroom and Photoshop) before exhibiting your photos at the end of the week. Plus create a website where you can start a small business and gain a following. Use your own camera or your phone or iPad.
  • Summer Dance for Littles | New for 2020!

    Instructor: Laurel Zahrobsky ’90, GPS Dance Teacher, and GPS Terpsichord dancers

    Let’s MOVE! Enjoy the beautiful GPS dance studios while moving and dancing with GPS dance teacher Laurel Zahrobsky ’90 and members of GPS’s modern dance company Terpsichord. Your weeklong dance adventure culminates in a special performance on Friday afternoon, so you can show off all you learned in camp to friends and family members.
  • Summer Dance Intensive

    SUMMER DANCE INTENSIVE
    Grades: 6-adult
    Dates: July 6-10
    Time: 8:30 a.m.-3:30 p.m.
    Cost: $325
    Instructors: Laurel Zahrobsky ’90, GPS Dance Teacher, and various guest artists

    Enjoy the beautiful GPS dance studios while articulating your dance skills with fun and challenging teachers. Learn various forms of dance—modern, ballet, and composition—with instruction by professional dance company teachers. Choose from two levels: intermediate and advanced. Your weeklong dance adventure culminates in a special performance on Friday afternoon, so you can show off all you learned in camp.
  • Summer Theater Intensive

    SUMMER THEATER INTENSIVE
    Dates & Grades:
    Grades 8-12: June 1-5, June 8-12
    Grades 4-7: June 8-12
    Time: 9 a.m.-noon
    Cost: $200/week; $400 for both weeks for Grades 8-12
    Instructors: Mark Krawczyk, GPS Drama Teacher

    This intensive program is made to engage passionate, dedicated, and curious artists. The approach is a combination of Stanislavski-based training along with various physical theater practices, but is always actor-centric. Your mind, body, and voice will develop an actor who communicates an honest, compelling story through the use of text and movement. Become inspired and engaged in your craft with a seriousness of purpose. Through group, pair, and one-on-one coaching, you will develop the professional skills and attitudes needed to excel in professional, college, or university/conservatory training. The course concludes with an exhibition of student monologues and/or scenes. Campers in grades 8-12 can sign up for both weeks or just one!

  • Violin & Cello

    VIOLIN & CELLO
    Grades: K-5

    Time: 9 a.m.-noon
    Cost: $200
    Instructor: Mary Baxter, GPS Orchestra Director and Music Instructor

    Learn to play or improve your performance of the violin or cello at this camp for both beginning and advanced musicians. Small classes are divided by skill level and instrument, and you’ll work with a master teacher, an ensemble teacher, and a rhythm class.
