GPS will operate on a two-hour delay Tuesday, Decmber 11. Classes will begin at 10 a.m. Buses will run on a 90-minute delay from their normal departure times.

Let her discover a new passion project (filmmaking? photography?) this summer with our creative art and music camps that are sure to move her.

  • Beat the Heat Percussion Camp | New for 2018!

    Beat the Heat Percussion Camp
    Grades: 6–12
    Time: 9 a.m.–noon

    Ready to beat the heat? At Cadek, new and seasoned middle- and high-school percussionists learn new skills and hone existing talents in the exciting world of percussion. Beginners learn basic techniques of snare drum, mallets, and timpani. Intermediate students refine snare drum skills, progress to four-mallet work on mallet instruments, and refine more advanced timpani skills. Join us this summer and share our love for all things percussion plus perform for your family and friends at the end of camp.

    Do you love to sing and groove? Bruiser Beats Music Camp was designed with you in mind. Learn new instruments such as the recorder, handbells, lummi sticks, and tinikling. Plus you will also receive voice instruction! Spend your week with a variety of talented and well-trained musicians from Cadek Conservatory of Music and learn how much joy music can bring to your life. On the last day of camp, perform live for your friends and family.

    Set in the media rooms of GPS, this exciting summer film camp teaches you all about the basics of audio and video communications plus the art of storytelling, video production, and acting, and then helps you put those skills into practice. By the end of this week-long camp, you will write, direct, and star in your own short films with the help of Mr. Lee Wright.

  • Music Week of Fun

    Learn a new instrument or improve on the one you play! This camp is for musicians of all abilities on any symphonic instrument: violin, viola, cello, string bass, flute, oboe, clarinet, saxophone, trumpet, French horn, trombone, tuba, or percussion. At the end of the week, show off what you have learned with a concert open to friends and family.

    Photography 101: Shoot, Edit, and Create a Small Business

    Want to learn more than just point and shoot when taking photos? Photographer Emily Lester to the rescue! This popular camp returns to teach you the creative process of photography. Improve your skills, learn manual DSLR camera modes, and produce a personal portfolio. Practice landscape, portrait, and food photography. You’ll even learn basic editing with Adobe Creative Suite (Lightroom and Photoshop) before exhibiting your photos at the end of the week. Plus Ms. Lester will teach you how to create a website where you can start a small business and gain a following. Use your own camera or one will be loaned to you for the week. Mostly importantly, you will have fun!

    Learning to play the piano can be fun when you learn with friends! At Piano Fun Camp, learn to play a simple song on the keyboard. You will get moving and grooving on a floor piano while you learn how music works, too! This is a great camp for trying out the piano to see if one-on-one or group lessons might be in your future.

    Enjoy the beautiful GPS dance studios while articulating your dance skills with fun and challenging teachers. Learn various forms of dance—modern, ballet, hip hop, and composition—with instruction by professional dance company teachers. Choose from two levels: intermediate and advanced.
  • Violin & Cello

    Violin & Cello
    Grades: K–5
    Time: 9 a.m.–noon
    Dates: July 23–27
    Cost: $185
    Instructors: Mary Baxter, GPS Orchestra Director and Music Instructor, and various guest artists

    Learn to play or improve your performance of the violin or cello at this camp for both beginning and advanced musicians. Small classes are divided by skill level and instrument, and you’ll work with a master teacher, an ensemble teacher, and a rhythm class. At the end of the week, show off what you have learned with a concert open to friends and family.
