Soccer Off to 4-0 Start

A 4-1 win over CCS featured goals by seniors to eighth graders as soccer recorded their fourth win of the season.
A home game against Chattanooga Christian featured a 3-1 halftime lead, 17 shots in the first half, and a hustling Bruiser defense to record the team’s fourth victory in as many starts on Tuesday, Aug. 23.

Senior Emily Large, sophomores Lane Lawrence
and Kylie Eiselstein, and eighth-grader Ashley Grant scored for GPS, and Lawrence and Jai-la Hansford were credited with assists in the 4-1 victory.

“CCS is probably the strongest opponent we’ve faced this year,” said Coach Patrick Winecoff as he answered questions from the media in attendance. Of his senior co-captain Sarah Corum, a three-year starter, he said, “She had a fantastic game.” Defense, especially that provided by junior Lily Hopping, held the lady Chargers to nine shots on goal.
