Sandlin Signs with Pepperdine

Three-sport athlete Scottie Sandlin signed scholarship papers to join the track program at Pepperdine University, an NCAA Division I school in California.
Senior Scottie Sandlin made her college plans official on Thursday, May 11, by signing to run track at Pepperdine University in Malibu, California.

“Scottie has been a leader and an outstanding contributor to our track team the past four years,” said interim Athletic Director and Coach Jeff Gaither, noting her contributions to the 400-meter and 4x400 relay. At the upcoming Spring Fling, she’s expected to run in both the 4x200 and 4x400 relays. “I’m excited about her opportunity to compete at the Division I college level.

A three-sport athlete, Sandlin was a key member of the varsity golf team which tied for third at the TSSAA Division II-AA state golf tournament. In the past two years, she has joined the varsity cross country team and, according to Gaither, was first alternate this year at the state cross country championship.

“While Scottie has enjoyed enough personal success to merit this opportunity at Pepperdine,” said Gaither at the signing celebration with family, friends, and teammates, “her biggest contribution to GPS athletics has been as a caring, unselfish teammate in all three sports.” Sandlin was the recipient of the Laura Holt Outstanding Athlete Award as a junior.
