Tennis Team Advances to State Semifinals

The Bruisers will compete at Spring Fling for the 14th consecutive year.
The GPS tennis team advanced to the Division II-AA state semifinals with a home victory on Monday, May 15. Next week’s Spring Fling in Murfreesboro will be the 14th consecutive time that a GPS team has been in the team competition, a streak of successes unmatched by any other team in the state. The Bruisers qualified by virtue of a 4-1 defeat of Harpeth Hall.

Maddox Bandy, Maggie Eslinger, and Kate Thel – all juniors – won their singles matches, and the doubles teams of Bandy/Corinne Spann and Ellie Edwards/Eslinger were also winners. With a week to rest and prepare for state competition, Coach Sue Bartlett said, “We want to play some…there are a few things we need to keep working on…but we want to rest and be ready to play on Tuesday, May 23.”
