GPS Swimming & Diving: State Meet Results

The TISCA State Swimming and Diving Meet, February 8-9, resulted in the Bruisers breaking school records and bringing home some hardware.
Ellie Taliaferro ’22 led the way for the GPS Swim Team with an individual runner-up medal in the 50-yard freestyle, and she set new school records for both the 50- and 100-yard freestyle with her times of 23.40 and 50.92, respectively. Emma Scruggs ’20, Brighton Smith ’22, Jillian Cantrell ’19, and Taliaferro teamed up to represent the Bruisers in the 200-yard medley relay and earned a third-place finish; these four also finished fourth in the 400-yard freestyle relay. Additional GPS individual placements include Scruggs’ fifth-place finish in the 100-yard backstroke and seventh-place finish in the 200-yard individual medley, plus Cantrell’s ninth-place finish in the 100-yard butterfly.

The Bruisers finished sixth place overall with a score of 128 points.
