GPS Volleyball Standout Commits to Playing in College

Senior Preslee Brooksbank to attend Nova Southeastern University
GPS senior volleyball player Preslee Brooksbank will continue her athletic and academic careers at Nova Southeastern University. Her commitment to the NCAA Division II school in Davie, Florida, was celebrated yesterday as part of a virtual National Signing Day event. Nearly 600 of her classmates, teachers, friends, and family members celebrated Preslee during GPS’s afternoon Chapel time via Zoom.

Preslee was team captain for the Bruisers for the past three years and amassed career stats to include 1,128 kills, 266 aces, 1,287 digs, 49 blocks, and 20 assists. She was selected to the Chattanooga Times Free Press Best of Preps Volleyball Team in 2018 and 2019 and the TSSAA Division II-AA East Region Team 2018 and 2019. As a student-athlete, Preslee is a member of National Honors Society, Distinguished List and National Beta Club, and a Student Council representative.

“Preslee Brooksbank was, without a doubt, a standout player on our GPS volleyball team for the two seasons that I coached her,” says GPS Head Varsity Coach Jasmine Bravo-Brown. “She has an innate determination to win, a fierce drive to keep the play alive, and an insane ability to thump the ball or make an impossible play look easy. Aside from her grit and determination on the court, she is extremely well-loved by her teammates and she loves them in return. I often hear our girls talk about how big of a role model and leader Preslee has been for them and how she inspires them to work hard to be better. Preslee left her mark on our volleyball program in so many ways, and we are better for having played with and known her. I cannot wait to watch her blossom at Nova Southeastern.”

Preslee plans to study business and has been accepted into the school’s Huizenga College of Business and Entrepreneurship, where she will receive an MBA in her four years, build her résumé, and be eligible to receive up to $20,000 to start her own business after graduation.

Brian Rosen, Head Women’s Volleyball Coach at Nova Southeastern University, says Preslee will make their gym better every day, calling her a fearless competitor. “Up to this point, she has played outside hitter, competing and winning against blockers much larger. No matter what, she is going to make life difficult on our hitters and everyone in the conference for the next four years. (The Huizenga College of Business and Entrepreneurship's MBA) program, along with being a college student-athlete, would be too much for most people, but I have no doubt Preslee will be able to do it all because of the college-level education she has received from GPS and the work ethic she possesses.”

“We are incredibly proud of Preslee and look forward to following her progress both on and off the court for the next four years and beyond,” says Jay Watts, GPS Director of Athletics.

The accomplished senior joins five other GPS student-athletes who signed this fall to continue their sports in college. GPS consistently sends its athletes to play at the collegiate level well above the national average of 6% for both male and female high school seniors.
