Mackenzie Brown brings five years of experience to our community as a math teacher. Most recently, Mackenzie served as an eighth-grade math and Honors Algebra I teacher at Chattanooga Prep. Prior to that, Mackenzie spent four years at The Howard School teaching Algebra II, Algebra II Honors, and ACT Prep, where she developed a rigorous curriculum and implemented data-responsive teaching strategies to enhance student learning and growth. In addition to her classroom experience, Mackenzie served as a Studio Teacher with the Teachers Development Group, where she led professional development sessions for math educators, planned and delivered model lessons, shared strategies for fostering a positive and motivating classroom environment, and promoted mathematically productive habits of mind and interaction. Mackenzie holds an MEd in secondary education as a literacy specialist from the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga and a BS in early childhood education from UTC as well. She is a licensed Tennessee educator with multiple endorsements, including Mathematics 6-12, Middle Grades 4-8, Special Education PreK-3, and Early Childhood Education PreK-3. Known for her collaborative spirit, Mackenzie excels at fostering a safe and positive learning environment while encouraging students to meet their full potential. Outside of the classroom, Mackenzie enjoys lacrosse, staying active, reading, and holidays. She also plans to coach lacrosse at GPS.
