The GPS Endowment

An Investment in the Future of Girls

The GPS Endowment is made up of the general unrestricted endowed funds and named restricted endowed funds, all comprised of numerous gifts made over the years from generous, forward-thinking alumnae, parents, grandparents, and friends who wish to ensure the school’s ability to offer an exceptional education for future generations of girls.

Earnings from our endowment provide a permanent source of income that ensures GPS can fulfill its mission now and for decades to come. The principal of endowed funds is held in perpetuity and invested for long-term growth. Each year, a percentage of the general endowment’s total market value is used at the discretion of the Board of Trustees to advance the school’s mission.

Gifts to the general endowment complement tuition revenue and our annual Impact Fund and allow the Trustees the ability to respond to unforeseen challenges, to fund programs, or scholarships that may not otherwise receive support, or to seize an opportunity that requires immediate funding not currently available in the operating budget.

Gifts to named restricted endowed funds are used each year for the specific purposes determined by the donor, such as financial aid and faculty professional development.

Black Alumnae Council Endowed Scholarship Fund

The Black Alumnae Council Endowed Scholarship Fund provides a financial aid award to a Black current or future GPS student who might not otherwise be able to attend GPS. The fund will continue to grow in value as the years go on and will provide support to Black GPS students for decades to come.

Latinx Endowed Scholarship Fund

If you are interested in contributing to an endowed fund or the general endowment,
please contact Lisa Reynolds Shanahan '83, Director of Development.

Endowed Funds

In 2022-23, approximately 40 percent of the GPS student body received need-based financial awards. Much of the funding for financial aid is made possible through the school’s endowment and named scholarship funds, which have been established by friends of GPS. We proudly salute the funds that enable outstanding students to continue their GPS educations.
