The GPS application is completed and submitted electronically through a family’s individual account in the admission platform of our online community, MyGPS. Within their individual account, a family can complete and submit the online application, track their admission progress, register for admission events, register for a Student Visit Day, communicate with admission counselors, request teacher recommendations and school records from schools, and more.

If you are a current parent or employee and already have a MyGPS account, please log in with your MyGPS username. You do not need to create a new account.

REQUIRED STEPS OF THE ADMISSION PROCESS

  • Step 1: Application

    The application and $75 non-refundable application fee are completed electronically through a family's MyGPS account. The application opens Saturday, September 1, and the deadline is January 31, 2020.
  • Step 2: Admission Test | SSAT

    All applicants are required to take the SSAT and must register for the test. Please contact the Admission Office at admission@gps.edu or 423.634.7644 for instructions on how to register for the test.
  • Step 3: School Records

    Applicants are required to submit their school records from their current school.
    • School records include: official transcript including current and previous grades, records of standardized testing, records of attendance, and any disciplinary records, if applicable.
    • Applicants electronically request in MyGPS for their schools to send these records.
    • The school records request will be active in MyGPS and available for submission beginning November 1, 2019.
    • The deadline for school records is January 31, 2020.
  • Step 4: Teacher Recommendations

    Applicants are required to submit teacher recommendations forms from their current math and English teachers.
    • Applicants electronically request in MyGPS for their teachers to complete these forms. 
    • The recommendation forms request will be active in MyGPS and available for submission beginning November 1, 2019.
    • These forms are due January 31, 2020. 
  • Step 5: Conversation with Middle School + Upper School Principals

    All applicants are required to have a brief convertsation with the appropriate principal.
    • This conversation will take place on your daughter's Student Visit Day.
    • If your daughter is not planning to visit, please contact the Admission Office at 423.634.7644 to schedule a conversation.
