Below are the steps for the admission process. And, don’t worry! We will send you regular communications, instructions for the various steps, and reminders about important dates and deadlines.

  • + Step 1: Inquiry Form

    Complete our online Inquiry Form to have your information added to our database. Once we receive your inquiry form, you will begin to receive correspondence from GPS.
  • + Step 2: Virtual Admission Meet & Greet

    Our virtual Meet & Greet is geared toward new families interested in learning more about our school and meeting our leadership team. In this live webinar, you will be introduced to Interim Head of School Dr. Kirk Walker and the Heads of the Upper and Middle Schools. The admission team will walk you through the admission process for the year and tell you about the many opportunities available to help you answer the question, Why GPS?   • + Step 3: Virtual Parent Information Sessions

    Our Virtual Parent Information Sessions are designed for families interested in learning more about our school—our mission and values, curriculum and programs, and culture and traditions. During these live webinars, we will introduce families to key aspects of our learning community to answer the question, Why GPS? Presenters include faculty and staff, coaches, current students and parents, and alumnae. For your convenience, sessions will be conducted during lunch. Click here to see all upcoming webinars.
  • + Step 4: Application

    The GPS Admission Application for the 2021-22 school year is now available through our online parent portal, MyGPS. The deadline for submission is January 15, 2021. Instructions for accessing the application through MyGPS are listed below. If you have any questions, please contact the Admissions team at Admission@GPS.edu or by calling 423.634.7644.
     
    All applicants applying for the 2021-22 academic year will need a MyGPS account to complete the application. To open a MyGPS account and access the Admission Application, please follow these instructions:
     
    • If you are new to the GPS admission process, click here to create your MyGPS account and begin the admission application. After two business days, you will also have access to the Admission Checklist in your MyGPS portal — a tool that will help you keep up with the different steps of the application process and their deadlines.
    • If you are a current GPS family, alum, faculty member, or past applicant, you do not need to create a new account. Simply log in with your current username and password and click on your applicant's name in the upper left corner to get started. To complete the Admission Application, click on “Fill out” next to the application step on the Admission Checklist, to begin.
    • The admission application is due January 15, 2021.
  • + Step 5: Secondary School Admission Test (SSAT)

    All candidates are required to take the Secondary School Admission Test (SSAT) and must register for the test at SSAT.org.

    Options to take the SSAT:
    • At Home - SSAT at Home will be the main testing solution, providing students with secure browser based options. The at Home SSAT will be offered every Saturday and one Sunday every month with two test times available each day. Fore more information on how to register for SSAT at Home click here.
    • Prometric Test Center - Students can take a computer based version of the SSAT, at any Prometric Test Center location. For more information on testing at a Prometric Test Center click here.

    When registering for the test at SSAT.org you can choose the testing option you prefer and it will give you available dates and times to register for. The cost for both options is $149.
    When registering please indicate that you would like to share your daughter’s scores with GPS, our school code is 3425. 
    GPS recommends that you complete SSAT testing by mid December.
  • + Step 6: Virtual Parent Conversation & Tour

    A Parent Conversation provides you the opportunity to meet one-on-one with an admission counselor or Division Head. This is the perfect way for us to learn more from you about your daughter and what you are hoping to find in a new school for her as well as answer any questions you might have about our curriculum and culture. During the Parent Conversation families also have the opportunity to engage in a Virtual Tour personalized to their areas of interest. To schedule your Virtual Parent Conversation and Tour, please contact the Admission office at admission@gps.edu or 423.634.7644.

    GPS is committed to keeping visitors and the GPS community safe by following COVID-19 CDC guidelines. Depending on pandemic conditions, on-campus Parent Conversations and Tours may be available upon request.
  • + Step 7: Virtual Student Visit Day & Activities

    The best way to get to know a school is to experience the teachers, classroom environment, curriculum and activities, and much more. While girls are not able to be on campus, the admission team is dedicated to provide the opportunity for your daughter to engage with our amazing faculty through virtual hands-on virtual activities and informational videos. This virtual student visit will include a meeting with the Division Head. Click here to register.

  • + Step 8: Teacher Recommendations

    Candidates are required to submit teacher recommendation forms from their current math and English teachers. Recommendation forms will be available to send beginning November 1, 2020.
    • Complete the electronic request for your daughter’s teachers to complete these forms through your MyGPS account.
    These forms are made available in your MyGPS account at the end of the fall semester and will be due January 15, 2021.
  • + Step 9: School Transcript & Student Records

    Candidates are required to submit their school records from their current school. School records include: official transcript including current and previous grades, records of standardized testing, records of attendance, and any disciplinary records, if applicable.
    • Complete the electronic request for your daughter’s school to submit her records through your MyGPS account beginning November 1, 2020.  School records are due January 15, 2021.
  • + Step 10: Financial Aid Application, if applicable

    The financial aid application opens October 1. Visit GPS.edu/FinancialAid for detailed information on the Financial Aid application process and required components. The deadline for the financial aid application for new families is January 15, but be sure to also review the deadlines for supporting documents.

*Candidates who complete the admission application process by January 15 will be reviewed for the admission decisions announced in early March. Candidates who apply or complete the process after January 15 will be considered as space permits.
