Impact Fund

List of 8 frequently asked questions.

  • Q. What is the Impact Fund?

The cost of providing a top-quality academic, social, and emotional experience for 600 girls each year cannot be covered solely by tuition dollars. GPS’s Impact Fund provides flexible resources that have a significant impact on our ability to provide an experience that touches every aspect of the school–students, teachers, and programs. Our amazing teachers use out-of-the-box instruction techniques to keep the classroom experience exciting. Our coaches and club sponsors provide support and social outlets for our girls through activities and other positive interaction. And our girls love to learn inside or outside of the classroom.
  • Q. Why give to the Impact Fund?

GPS continues to provide the finest education possible, offering its students the advantages necessary to transform today’s young minds into tomorrow’s leaders. Year after year, GPS students are honor roll designees, state and conference athletics champions, and are accepted into the nation’s finest colleges and universities. These are quality indicators of performance, yet the pressure of GPS’s operating budget makes achievements like these more and more challenging each year. By providing support, gifts to the Impact Fund have an immediate impact on students, faculty, and programs at every level of the GPS experience.
  • Q. Where do my dollars go?

Gifts to the Impact Fund provide the general operating budget with unrestricted money that is used in the current fiscal year to support the school’s highest priorities. This includes, but is not limited to, fine arts and humanities, new courses, financial aid, salaries and professional development for faculty and staff, athletics, and technology. The greatest strength of these funds is that they enable the school’s Administration and Board of Trustees to react quickly to our students’ needs on a daily basis with a degree of financial flexibility.
  • Q. Does tuition cover the cost to educate GPS students?

Unfortunately, no. Tuition and fees provide 83% of the cost to educate a student; the Impact Fund covers 8%, auxiliary and endowment revenue covers 9%.
  • Q. Does my gift make a difference?

Every dollar contributed to the Impact Fund makes a difference.
  • Q. Why is participation in the Impact Fund so important?

Participation numbers, especially among our alumnae and parents, indicate the success of a GPS education. Many foundations and corporations request participation numbers among alumnae and parents when faculty apply for grants, as it reflects the strengths of a GPS education.
