GPS Rowing Competes in First Race of the Season

The GPS Rowing Team competed in the Music City Head Race Saturday, October 7 against some of the best teams in the Southeast, including Nashville Rowing, Harpeth Hall, Atlanta Junior Rowing Association, East Tennessee Rowing Organization, and Atomic Rowing.
The girls competed in 5 different boats in 3 events: Women's Youth 8+, Women's 4+, and Women's 2-. The Women's 8+ took 10th with a time of 20:15 over the 5000m race. Next for the GPS girls were the Women's 4+s taking 1st, 8th, and 12th with times of 18:55, 21:19, and 22:34 respectively. Finishing the day for the team was the Women's 2- finishing 4th with a time of 20:46. The Music City Head Race was a great opportunity for these girls to race against some tough competition in preparation for races later in the season. Head Coach David Hall said in response to Saturday's performance, "I am very proud of these girls in their desire to show up on race day to perform at a high level, and to learn more about their personal ability and their competition. I look forward to our races later this season and those next Spring." The GPS Rowing Team will be racing from their home boathouse next, on October 14, for the Chattanooga Head Race.
