Senior Astha Sinha Receives Recognition from NDEO

The National Dance Education Organization also acknowledges Zahrobsky
The National Dance Education Organization (NDEO) recently announced that Astha Sinha ’21 has been selected by the National Honor Society for Dance Arts (NHSDA) adjudication committee as an Honorable Mention for the 2021 NDEO Artistic Merit, Leadership, and Academic Achievement Award

The award is one of the highest honors a young person can achieve at the national level in the dance arts field. According to the NDEO, this award is evidence that Astha has excelled in all three categories in which she was reviewed:

Artistic Merit | The candidate demonstrates technical and artistic excellence in dance as evidenced by performing original choreography and submitting an essay describing the intent, inspiration, and challenges of their choreography.

Leadership | The candidate demonstrates outstanding leadership in and outside the field of dance at the school, community, state, and/or national level as evidenced by a strong resume, recommendation letter, and impact of dance essay

Academic Achievement | The candidate demonstrates academic excellence with a high cumulative grade point average and superior writing skills found in both submitted essays.

In addition, NDEO recognized her NHSDA Chapter Sponsor, Laurel Moore Zahrobsky ’90, for outstanding teaching, leadership, and guidance shown to Astha and her fellow students.

“Much of [Astha’s] success, and theirs, is due to your chapter sponsor’s selfless dedication, guidance, and exemplary leadership,” the release stated.

A list of the 2021 winner, finalists, and honorable mentions, along with selected videos will be posted to the NHSDA website on or before May 15. Astha’s work will also be featured in the NHSDA Dance Arts Now! newsletter.

Congratulations, Astha!
