Laura came to GPS in the fall of 2021, joining the the Humanities department. She has taught classes throughout the History curriculum, and serves as the head coach of the rowing team. Laura grew up in West Windsor, New Jersey, where her teachers nurtured a curiosity of topics historical and contemporary. She also began rowing in high school, and she eventually signed at the University of Michigan. At Michigan, Laura earned academic honors as a two-time Big Ten Scholar Athlete as well as four-time Varsity Letter winner. Her focus on physical history (roads, buildings, etc) and psychology led her to study Archaeology and row at University of Cambridge in the UK. At Cambridge, Laura earned high honors on her Masters thesis exploring the connection between Roman street use and the psychology of navigation in medieval urban life. She was named Vice President of the Cambridge University Women's Boat Club, and helped manage the merger between the three University teams into the united Cambridge University Boat Club. In the classroom, Laura focuses on learner-centered initiatives and ensuring students are practicing skills that will serve them in the classroom and in life after school. During her tenure as head rowing coach, athletes have competed and medaled at regattas both regional and national and continued to row at universities at the DI, DII, and DIII level.
