Golf Returns to State

A trio of Bruiser golfers earned a spot in the state tournament.
The Bruisers finished fourth in the Division II-AA East/Middle Region Golf Tournament on Monday, Sept. 19, earning the trio of girls a spot in next week’s TSSAA State Championship.

Playing at Bear Trace at Tims Ford Golf Course in Winchester, the contest was close until the last shot. Hannah Prescott shot a 79 and then entered a two-hole playoff, finishing the day fourth at 161. Prescott led in scoring for the Bruisers; McKenzie Frizzell shot an 82 and Scottie Sandlin an 83.

"In a very competitive field of girls, our athletes stayed focused and positive," said Coach Jenny Bullard. "Coach Riddle and I are extremely proud of all of the girls for rising to the occasion. When we needed her most, Hannah finished with her best round of the year."

The state match will be played Monday, Sept 26-27, at Willowbrook Golf Course in Manchester, and the GPS team will be trying to improve upon their third-place finish last year. "This week, we are going to work hard, have fun, and prepare for next week's state tournament," Bullard added.
