Celebrating National College Decision Day

The Class of 2017 and their college counselors celebrated National College Decision Day on Monday, May 1.
A happy helping of seniors gathered on Monday, May 1, to celebrate “National College Decision Day” with the GPS college counselors. May 1 is the day that most colleges and universities set as a deadline to hear from students about their decisions to enroll.

The Class of 2017 celebrated the end of the sometimes pressure-packed college admissions process filled with essays, campus visits, and scholarship applications. They enjoyed a cake while admiring each other’s’ college t-shirts and sweatshirts and posing for lots of photos.

“Today, I am a happy counselor,” said Susan McCarter, Director of College Guidance. "Our girls have accepted offers from schools from the East to the West Coast, from state universities and small private colleges, and they have accepted impressive scholarship offers. Assistant Director Ms. Goldbach and I are so pleased the girls have found a college home that fits them.”

Among the schools the seniors will enter as freshmen this fall are University of Georgia, Cornell University, Sewanee, Rhodes College, Princeton, Warren Wilson College, University of Pennsylvania, Roanoke College, George Washington, Maryville College, Johns Hopkins, University of San Francisco, Washington & Lee, Brandeis, University of Tennessee, Baylor University, University of Alabama, Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, University of Wisconsin, Georgia Tech, Pepperdine, Duke, Rochester Institute of Technology, and many others.

The traditional Where ‘O Where’s, the complete list of seniors and their college choices, will be posted before Commencement, which takes place on Friday, May 19.
