Shelby Walters '18 Named First-Team All-SEC at Georgia

Congratulations to Shelby Walters '18, the graduate right-handed pitcher who all earned First Team All-SEC at Georgia this season! Walters transferred to Georgia this season from Duke and made an immediate impact in the circle. Walters' 1.61 SEC ERA finished fifth in the league while she pitched the fifth-most innings (69.2). Her six wins tied for sixth-most while her six saves led the league in 2023. She made the most appearances (19), making 11 in relief.

Walters was a 2021 First Team All-ACC performer for the Blue Devils as she adds First Team All-SEC to her resume. 

While at GPS:
Ranked 80th in FloSoftball's Top 100… Put together a tremendous career at Girls Preparatory School in Chattanooga, Tenn., for head coach Susan Crownover, leading her squad to the TSSAA DII-AA State Championship in 2014 and runner-up finishes in 2015, 2017 and 2018… Posted 477 strikeouts with three perfect games in her career… Finished her career with a scorching 1.89 ERA… Also ended her career with a .549 slugging percentage and 21 homers…  Capped her career with a stellar senior season, earning Best of Preps First Team, All-State and Division II Region MVP honors… Tossed 134.1 innings her final campaign, striking out 219 and recording a 1,04 ERA with a 30-4 record in the circle… At the plate, she owned a .468 clip with a .909 slugging percentage and a team-high 13 home runs…  A 2017 Best of Preps honoree, she posted a 1.10 ERA her junior year, tallying four no-hitters and two perfect games… In over 89 innings of work, she struck out 118 opponents, giving up just 46 hits and 14 earned runs in 351 batters faced… Also put up impressive numbers in her freshman campaign, tallying a 2.28 ERA with 85 strikeouts and only 34 runs in 104 innings of action, tacking on a perfect game as well… On the travel ball scene, she was a stud for the Frost Falcons (2010-15) and Tennessee Fury Platinum (2015-18)… Posted three top five finishes as ASA Nationals in her time with the Falcons, including a third-place showing in 2011… As a pitcher and first baseman paced her squad to four ASA State Championships (2011-13, 2015), the 2013 ASA Hall of Fame Championship, a runner-up finish at the 2011 USFA World Series and a fifth-place showing at Triple Crown Nationals in 2014… With the Fury Platinum, she helped her team reach a third-place finish at the 2017 Colorado Fireworks (16U) and an appearance at PGF Nationals… Posted a remarkable 14 shutouts and six no-hitters in the summer of 2017… Was also a stud in the classroom, as she was a member of the National Honors Society and made the Distinguished Honors list every year in high school so far… Named to the Dean's List from 2015-17… Also was a member of National Society of High School Honors.
