GPS Students Set to Perform in Area Holiday Productions

Ballet and musical performances scheduled all month long
While the GPS Fine and Performing Arts Department is known for producing incredible shows all year long, GPS students are also encouraged to participate in their passions outside of school. With the holiday season in full swing, we have many students performing in area productions throughout December.

Five GPS students will participate in the Chattanooga Ballet's The Nutcracker, December 8–10, at Soldiers and Sailors Memorial Auditorium.
  • Julia Steffner ’24 will dance the roles of a maid in the party scene, a flower in “Waltz of the Flowers,” and a demi soloist in the coffee scene.
  • Madeline Scheib ’30 will embody a soldier.
  • Cyra Poureshmenantalemy ’30 will perform as a party girl.
  • Addie Cannon ’28 will be dance the role of angel attendant.
  • Jenna Naik '24 will dance in "Waltz of the Flowers," as well as in the roles of columbine doll and coffee demi.
  • Elisabeth Affare '27 will dance as a member of the snow troupe.

Two GPS students will perform in the Dalton Arts Project’s The Nutcracker at The Colonnade Theatre in Ringgold, Georgia. Livestreaming of each show will be available.
  • Madeline Hudson ‘26 will dance the roles of flower, shepherdess, and lamb in the December 15–17 performances.
  • Sara Kate Elrod ’24 will be dancing the role of Snow Queen with professional guest artist Ralph Jacques as well as dancing in the roles of Spanish hot chocolate, spring flower, snowflake, and mouse. Sara Kate is also the Sugar Plum Fairy understudy. She will perform in each show, December 8–17.

In the theater world, two GPS students will act in Chattanooga Theater Center’s Scrooge! the Musical, December 8–31.
  • Bea Burbank ’28 is cast as Belinda Cratchit.
  • Meri-Madeline Sanders '27 is playing Urchin 3 and a school student.
